Matt Smith wears the Doctor’s shoes even when he’s not playing the Doctor.
I fully believe that on Matt’s last day as the Doctor, security will stop him, empty his bag, and find every costume from every series crammed in there. The shoes are only the beginning. One day we’ll see him walking around in that toga thing from last series’ finale, and no one will even bat an eye.
I have a feeling it’s not going to just be his own costumes he’s taking. If he fits in it, it’s going with him.
I would not be surprised at all to see him wandering around in River Song’s tan dress one day.
I wouldn’t even be remotely shocked if he turns up to his next interview wearing Tom Baker’s scarf.
